Teachniche is supporting a world center of excellence in research and development by appointing an experienced Project Engineer to their Design team in Portsdown Technology Park offices in Cosham, Portsmouth.

As a Project Engineer, you will join our dedicated Design Team and play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless execution of engineering projects. The role is crucial in supporting the maritime industry by overseeing the drawings and installation documentation produced by our CAD engineers within the design team.

Day-to-day, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the entire installation process from a technical lead perspective, collaborating with stakeholders at all milestone points. From investigating requirements to managing safe installations in compliance with industry standards, your expertise will be crucial in delivering successful outcomes. The electrical installations often differ from the usual; this is very interesting and unique work!

Standard working hours: 8am-4pm
Hybrid working available for this role circa 2-3 days a week on site.
 
 Primary accountabilities a Project Engineer:

  • To oversee the projects which include Installation Guidance Packages. Used by the installation team to enable them to install equipment into the facilities
  • Attend, instigate, and contribute to all milestone points throughout the engineering lifecycle liaising with relevant stakeholders. You will presenting key information to relevant multi-level stakeholders. Verbal and written
  • Manage the installation or de-installation of equipment safely and in accordance with the relevant JSP standards 
  • Co-ordinate between Project Management and the Engineering Team leaders for the provision of the Electrical and Mechanical fitters to undertake the installation.
  • Investigate the requirements for installation/de-installation of equipment into the facilities and plan in with the programme, liaising with relevant stakeholders as required
  • Be the accountable person for relevant installation activities requiring contractor involvement, acting as a point of contact for contractors

Essential experience/qualifications of the Project Engineer:

  • Man-management experience, responsible for delivery output.
  • Agile decision making.
  • Knowledge of CAD software and 2D/3D designs.
  • Electrical/Mechanical knowledge or competency, desirable.
  • Experience within Maritime would be advantageous for your development however not essential.
  • It would be advantageous but not essential to have understanding of DEF Stan 2-40 regulations.
  • Degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering, desired but not essential.
