Teachniche is supporting a a chemical plant manufacturer in Leek, Staffordshire (ST13 7QF) by appointing a a qualified Electrical Technician to join their team.

Working with the Plant Maintenance team you will be responsible for determining cause of faults with electrical plant & equipment and associated process control systems and carrying out repairs or replacement to return to a safe operational condition.

This is a full-time position – 40 hours week, 08:00 – 16:00, Mon-Fri.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Technician:
Liaising closely with Engineering and Production staff, you will provide a technical service to the company by:

  • Carrying out planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance checks on electrical plant & equipment and associated process control systems, including switchgear, cables, protection devices, motors, lighting, air conditioning, heating (including gas fired steam boilers & thermal fluid heaters) and other utilities (eg compressed air & nitrogen generation) to ensure safe & reliable operation.
  • Diagnosing & determining cause of faults with electrical plant & equipment and associated process control systems and carrying out repairs or replacement to return to a safe operational condition.
  • Installing new and modifying existing electrical equipment & associated process control systems, including fabrication & assembly of control panels, installation of power & control cables and completion of commissioning work necessary to bring into safe operation.
  • Safely isolating electrical and electromechanical equipment in preparation for inspection & repair, removal or replacement.
  • Recording of all electrical work completed on computer maintenance management system.
  • Updating electrical drawings and schedules following installation of new or modification and removal of existing electrical equipment & process control systems.

Key Experience Required:

  • Educated to (ideally) a level 3 apprenticeship standard in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Trained to BS 7671 18th Edition
  • Ideally COMPEX trained
  • Able to work as an individual with minimal supervision
  • Be able to work on multiple projects at any given time
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Health and safety focussed
