We are supporting an established manufacturing organisation in their search for an experienced Process Engineer – Injection Moulding to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, hands-on Process Engineer with proven experience in plastic injection moulding. You will play a key role in optimising manufacturing processes, supporting new equipment and product validation, troubleshooting production issues and driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.

The position is particularly suited to someone with strong injection moulding machine-setting experience who enjoys working directly on the shop floor, conducting tool trials and delivering measurable improvements in cycle times, scrap reduction and process stability.

The Role: As Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Injection Moulding Process Optimisation – Setting, optimising and validating injection moulding machines and associated equipment to achieve consistent production performance.
  • Tool Trials & Validation – Leading mould trials, process trials, initial product validation and production readiness activities for new and modified equipment and processes.
  • Machine Setting & Troubleshooting – Diagnosing and resolving injection moulding issues, including process instability, tooling problems and product quality defects.
  • Manufacturing Efficiency – Driving improvements in cycle times, scrap reduction, waste minimisation, process efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Root Cause Analysis – Investigating production and quality issues, identifying underlying causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Process Documentation – Developing and maintaining SOPs, work instructions, process parameters, manufacturing routings and process control documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identifying and implementing opportunities for lean manufacturing, automation, standardisation and improved process capability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Working closely with Production, Quality, Tooling, Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Training & Development – Supporting manufacturing trainers, team leaders and operators with process control, machine-setting techniques and standardised working practices.
  • Production Support – Providing practical technical guidance to production teams, ensuring process changes and investigation findings are communicated effectively.
  • Health & Safety – Ensuring machine trials, tooling activities and manufacturing processes are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 4–5 years’ experience within injection moulding, process engineering, manufacturing engineering or a similar technical role.
  • Strong hands-on experience in plastic injection moulding, including machine setting, process optimisation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working with injection moulding machines such as Arburg, Demag, Engel, Haitian or similar.
  • Good understanding of injection moulding process parameters, tooling, moulding defects and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of plastic materials, polymer behaviour and material processing requirements.
  • Experience conducting mould trials, process validation and manufacturing investigations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and quality requirements.
  • Experience developing process documentation, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and process improvement.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work effectively across engineering and production teams.
  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Desirable:

  • Arburg injection moulding machine experience.
  • Formal injection moulding or polymer processing training/certification.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and waste reduction techniques.
  • Experience supporting automation and manufacturing process development.
  • Previous experience within a quality-focused manufacturing environment.
  • Experience mentoring operators or developing technical skills within production teams.

Why Apply?
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Injection Moulding Process Engineer to take ownership of process improvements within a busy manufacturing environment.

You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with injection moulding machinery, tooling and production teams, leading technical investigations, improving manufacturing efficiency and supporting new process development.

The role offers a strong balance of hands-on injection moulding engineering, technical problem-solving and continuous improvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys delivering practical, measurable improvements on the shop floor.
