Process Automation Engineer – Croydon – £55,000-£65,000 + Bonus & Benefits – Permanent
 
A leading manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Process Automation Engineer to support the development and delivery of automation projects across its production site in Croydon.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at an early stage of its automation journey, offering the chance to shape future automation strategy and deliver new projects rather than simply maintaining existing systems.
The role focuses on researching, developing, implementing, and sustaining automation solutions across the manufacturing operation, with projects covering equipment control, material handling, inspection, data capture, and production performance improvements.
 
You will take automation projects from concept through to commissioning, working closely with production, maintenance, quality, engineering, IT, supply chain teams, suppliers, and system integrators.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Leading automation projects from concept through commissioning
• Developing automation solutions for manufacturing processes
• Improving safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency
• Managing project scope, budgets, timescales, and risk
• Coordinating internal stakeholders, suppliers, and system integrators
• Supporting continuous improvement and future automation strategy

 
Candidates should have:

• Experience delivering automation projects within a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and industrial control systems
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing suppliers and delivering projects to agreed budgets and timescales

 
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

• Robotics
• Vision systems
• Advanced sensors
• MES
• IIoT technologies
• Digital manufacturing platforms

 
This is a permanent role based in Croydon.
Package includes:

• £55,000-£65,000 salary depending on experience
