SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
Location: UK (Field-Based with Manufacturing Support)
Salary: £35k-£40k
We are supporting an innovative engineering business in their search for a Support Technician to join their growing technical team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys a varied role combining field service, manufacturing support and continuous product improvement. Working across customer sites throughout the UK and the company’s manufacturing facility, you will play a key role in commissioning, servicing and maintaining sophisticated electromechanical equipment while providing valuable feedback to support future product development.
The Role: As Support Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Field Service & Commissioning – Installing, commissioning and servicing equipment at customer sites across the UK while delivering user training and technical support.
- Equipment Maintenance – Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and performing preventative maintenance on electromechanical instruments both on-site and in-house.
- Manufacturing Support – Supporting the assembly, testing and documentation of new instruments as part of the manufacturing team.
- Technical Documentation – Maintaining accurate build records, service reports and documentation in accordance with quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement – Providing structured feedback to Engineering and R&D teams to improve product reliability, serviceability and manufacturability.
- Process Development – Assisting with the creation and improvement of work instructions, SOPs, service manuals and testing procedures.
- Customer Support – Planning service visits, coordinating directly with customers and ensuring a high standard of technical service throughout the customer journey.
- Quality & Compliance – Working within established Quality Management Systems and ensuring all activities meet company and regulatory standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum three years’ experience building and servicing electromechanical equipment.
- Strong practical engineering skills with a hands-on approach.
- Experience carrying out field service and maintenance activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow technical documentation and work instructions accurately.
- Experience working within a Quality Management System, ideally ISO 9001 or ISO 13485.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake UK travel, including overnight stays.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Experience working with medical devices or scientific instrumentation.
- Knowledge of fluidics systems.
- Experience supporting research and development teams.
- Experience working with complex PLC-controlled electromechanical equipment.
