Senior Platform Engineer – Richmond – £68,000-£78,000 + benefits – Permanent – 5 Days Onsite
 
An established technology company with a proprietary industrial SaaS platform is looking to appoint a Senior Platform Engineer to support and evolve its technology operations in Richmond.
 
The business delivers cybersecurity technology used within critical infrastructure environments across sectors including utilities, energy, and transport, helping secure operational systems that underpin essential services across the UK.
 
This is not a traditional modern DevOps-focused position. The role is far more aligned to strong systems engineering fundamentals, with a focus on Linux, networking, infrastructure, and platform ownership within an AWS-based environment.
 
The platform is already established and deployed, and the business is now looking for a senior engineer to take ownership of its ongoing evolution and technical direction.
 
The role spans:

• Linux systems administration
• Networking and infrastructure engineering
• Containers and platform operations
• Automation and scripting
• Infrastructure as Code
• Production environment ownership and support

Alongside operational responsibilities, the role involves solving genuine engineering challenges around:

• Scalability and platform performance
• Storage and infrastructure architecture
• Deployment processes
• Platform reliability and infrastructure improvements

 
The successful candidate will be expected to identify technical issues, propose solutions, and drive improvements through to implementation.
 
Key requirements include:

• Strong Linux administration experience
• Solid networking fundamentals
• Scripting and automation capability
• AWS experience
• Infrastructure as Code knowledge
• Experience supporting and owning production environments

 
This opportunity would suit an engineer with a strong Systems Engineering background rather than someone purely focused on CI/CD pipelines or cloud tooling.
 
The role is based in Richmond and requires 5 days per week onsite presence.
