Principal Mechanical Engineer – Congleton – £60,000-£75,000 – Permanent – Office-Based
 
An opportunity is available for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead engineering teams and deliver complex technical solutions across process plant projects. This role focuses on overseeing engineering outputs, ensuring high-quality design and analysis, and acting as a key technical interface with customers.
 
You will play a central role in driving engineering quality, safety and performance across projects, while mentoring and developing engineers within the team.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Leading mechanical engineering teams across multiple projects
• Overseeing and reviewing engineering designs, calculations and technical outputs
• Acting as a technical interface with customers and stakeholders
• Ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project requirements
• Driving quality, safety and performance across engineering delivery
• Mentoring and supporting the development of engineers

 
The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong experience within process plant or regulated engineering environments (e.g. energy, oil & gas, water or similar)
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, structural analysis and relevant standards (EN/ASME)
• Experience using engineering tools such as STAAD Pro and FEA software (e.g. SolidWorks Simulation)
• Ability to operate at a senior technical level and engage with clients and stakeholders

• Salary £60,000-£75,000 per annum
