Mechanical Build & Assembly Engineer
Location: Stafford
Contract: 6 months (likely to extend)
Rate: £19/hour PAYE
Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm, Friday 8:00am-12:30pm
Start: ASAP
 
We’re supporting a global engineering business in Stafford with the appointment of a Mechanical Build & Assembly Engineer to join their Test Systems Build team on an initial 6-month contract. 

This is a hands-on, workshop-based role supporting the build, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical test systems and associated equipment. You’ll work closely with a small, collaborative engineering team and take ownership of mechanical builds and layout-based wiring tasks.
 
The Role Includes:

• Mechanical assembly of test systems and rigs
• Small cabinet wiring (layout and placement only – no formal electrical qualifications required)
• Working from mechanical and wiring schematics
• Supporting continuous improvement and build quality
• Optional involvement in 3D printing or working with SolidWorks (advantageous, not essential)

 
What We’re Looking For:

• Practical mechanical assembly or workshop experience
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic wiring diagrams
• Proactive attitude and ability to work independently or within a small team
• Comfortable with layout wiring (not formal installation work)

 
Additional Info:

• Regular overtime available (including Saturdays)
• 12:30pm Friday finish
• Immediate start available
