STRATEGIC WORKFORCE PLANNING ANALYST
Location: Remote (reporting site Plymouth)
Salary: £18.60p/hr PAYE

We are supporting a leading defence organisation in their search for a Strategic Workforce Planning Analyst to provide data-driven insight and modelling that will help shape long-term workforce strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical professional with experience across workforce planning, HR analytics, business analytics or strategic planning. You will use workforce data, forecasting and scenario modelling to help ensure the organisation has the right people, skills and capabilities in place to meet future business requirements.

The Role: As Strategic Workforce Planning Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Workforce Analytics & Insights – Analysing headcount, turnover, skills, demographics and recruitment trends to identify emerging patterns, risks and opportunities.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning – Supporting the development of multi-year workforce plans aligned with wider organisational strategy.
  • Forecasting & Modelling – Forecasting future labour supply and demand and developing quantitative models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Scenario Planning – Running ‘what-if’ scenarios covering growth, transformation, automation, attrition, productivity and organisational change.
  • Skills & Capability Analysis – Conducting gap analysis between current workforce capabilities and future skills requirements.
  • Workforce Recommendations – Translating analysis into practical recommendations covering strategic hiring, talent pipelines, reskilling and organisational design.
  • Dashboard & Reporting Development – Building dashboards, reports and visualisations that provide meaningful workforce insight to senior stakeholders.
  • Financial Planning – Working collaboratively with Finance to ensure workforce forecasts are aligned with budget and financial planning.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Partnering with HR, Finance, Organisational Development and senior leadership to understand business requirements and communicate workforce insights.
  • Governance & Data Quality – Supporting workforce planning governance while ensuring data remains accurate, consistent and reliable across systems and reporting processes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience within strategic workforce planning, HR analytics, business analytics or strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Experience with forecasting, scenario analysis and trend modelling.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience using HRIS reporting or workforce data systems.
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and data storytelling skills.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic conversations.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills with an evidence-based approach to decision-making.
