Techniche Global is supporting a global engineering and technology business in the appointment of a Material Handler / Storekeeper for a 12-month contract based within its warehouse operations team in Tunbridge Wells.

The Material Handler / Storekeeper is responsible for carrying out day-to-day warehouse operations, including material handling, storage, and inventory management, while ensuring full compliance with company policies and procedures. This role requires a reliable, detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of their work and contributes to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organised warehouse environment.

Location: Tunbridge Wells
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 07:30–16:30; Friday, 07:30–13:00

Key Responsibilities of the Material Handler / Storekeeper:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing lists and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and that goods are in good condition.
  • Carry out daily warehouse activities, including labelling, storing, picking, packing, issuing, and handling inventory.
  • Accurately record all material movements using SAP/WMS to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring all items are correctly packed, labelled, and documented.
  • Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or inventory issues to the Warehouse Supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse and shipping/receiving areas.
  • Support cycle counts and periodic stock takes, ensuring a high level of inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with kitting, Kanban replenishment, and other material management activities as required.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) standards.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment following appropriate training and certification.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in warehouse efficiency, organisation, and safety.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or materials handling environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ERP systems; experience with SAP would be advantageous.
  • Competent in using computers and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, as well as inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Reliable, responsible, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • A positive team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • A valid forklift licence or previous forklift operating experience would be advantageous.
