Techniche Global is supporting a leading Oil & Gas engineering company in the appointment of a Logistics Operator to join their manufacturing facility in Barrow (Furness Business Park) on an initial contract basis.

The Logistics Operator is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the logistics department, including the movement, storage, and distribution of goods. This role involves managing shipments, ensuring proper handling of inventory, coordinating with transportation providers, and maintaining accurate documentation. The Logistics Operator plays a key role in ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods to meet customer and business demands.

Duration: 6 Months Contract
Working Hours: Mon – Thu: 07:00 – 15:45 | Friday: 07:00 – 11:30

Key Responsibilities of the Logistics Operator:

  • Follow safety guidelines and ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Manage the loading and unloading of goods from trucks, containers, and other transport vehicles.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and couriers to ensure proper and prompt movement of shipments.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and refer them to the proper departments.
  • Ensure shipments are dispatched on time, meeting company on-time delivery (OTD) targets and revenue targets.
  • Communicate with brokers and customs to ensure all shipment documents are correct and proper clearing instructions are provided.
  • Perform regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and audits to maintain system accuracy.
  • Report discrepancies or damages in inventory to the supervisor and take immediate corrective actions.
  • Handle shipments physically: measuring boxes, weighing shipments, re-palletizing, and packaging delicate or fragile items.
  • Kitting and etching of components as part of the production support workflow.
  • Resolve and complete NCR (Non-Conformance Report) tasks within defined targets.

Skills & Attributes Required

  • Accuracy & Detail Orientation: Ability to maintain extreme precision in shipping, receiving, and inventory processes.
  • Task Management: Efficiently handle multiple tasks, prioritize workflows, and strictly meet operational deadlines.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to quickly address logistics issues such as delayed shipments, transit discrepancies, or inventory mismatches.
  • Safety Commitment: Strong commitment to following safety protocols and actively maintaining a hazard-free work environment.
  • Collaborative Skills: Collaborating effectively with colleagues, team leads, suppliers, and external transportation providers.
  • Forklift experience beneficial.
