We are supporting a leading healthcare manufacturing organisation in their search for a Product Development Scientist to join their growing Product Development team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded scientist or engineer to play a key role in the development of innovative healthcare products. Working closely with Sales, Operations and cross-functional project teams, you will support the development and improvement of products from initial concept through to commercial launch, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
The Role: As Product Development Scientist, you will be responsible for:
- Product Development – Supporting the development of new products and the enhancement of existing products from concept through to commercial launch.
- Project Coordination – Working within cross-functional project teams to ensure development projects remain on schedule, within budget and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Technical Evaluation – Assisting with technical qualification, specification development and feasibility assessments for new product opportunities.
- Customer Collaboration – Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and capture the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to inform product development activities.
- Project Documentation – Preparing technical documentation, reports and project records in line with ISO 13485 and internal quality requirements.
- Business Case Support – Contributing to business cases for new product development and product improvement initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement – Identifying opportunities to improve products, processes and project delivery while supporting innovation across the business.
- Technical Marketing Support – Assisting in the production of technical content including reports, articles and customer-facing materials to support commercial activities.
- Stakeholder Communication – Providing regular progress updates and maintaining effective communication with customers, suppliers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience within product development, technical projects or manufacturing environments.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage changing priorities.
- Good computer literacy and technical report writing skills.
Desirable:
- Experience within medical devices, healthcare manufacturing or another regulated industry.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 or similar quality management systems.
- Experience in product management or new product development.
- Commercial, sales or marketing exposure within a technical environment.
- Experience delivering technical projects on time and within budget.
This is offered initially on a 6 month contract.
