Techniche Global

Techniche Global are supporting a major global engineering, design consultancy  to appoint a

Head of Commercial. You will be responsible for providing commercial leadership across the business, overseeing contract strategy, negotiation, governance, and financial performance. The role ensures commercial outcomes are aligned to organisational objectives, risk is appropriately managed, and supply chain and client relationships are effectively governed.

  
Rate:                    £65-70 Per hour PAYE + holiday + pension
Location:             Glasgow- hybrid (Travel expenses covered if not located nearby)
Duration:             contract initially until Dec 2026
Working Hours:  37.5 hours per week
  

Key Responsibilities:
  
Commercial Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead all aspects of contract negotiation and execution, covering both project-based service orders and resource-based commercial arrangements.
  • Develop, own, and implement the commercial strategy to achieve target margin outcomes across all contract types, adapting it in line with the evolving work pipeline.
  • Ensure effective engagement of the supply chain to support successful delivery, protecting the commercial strategy and maintaining balanced commercial outcomes across all partners.

Contract & Supply Chain Management

  • Monitor and review the performance of supply chain partners and their contractual arrangements, taking action where performance, risk, or commercial alignment requires adjustment.
  • Support project teams with pricing activities, ensuring alignment with the agreed commercial strategy and acting as the final reviewer prior to internal governance reviews.
  • Oversee and coordinate all commercial governance review processes to ensure contracts, proposals, and commercial submissions receive formal approval before client submission.

Frameworks, Performance & Processes

  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop and validate key performance indicators, ensuring commercial risks and incentivisation mechanisms are balanced and acceptable.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve commercial tools, processes, and protocols governing the commercial administration of the business.

Financial Management

  • Collaborate closely with Finance to finalise monthly profit and loss reporting and provide recommendations for profit distribution where applicable.
  • Act as the escalation point for commercial issues arising within project teams, resolving matters directly with client-side commercial representatives as required.

Contract Compliance & Instruction Management

  • Ensure project teams obtain formal instructions and agreement of commercial values for compensation events or variations, in full compliance with contractual provisions.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Participate in regular commercial leadership meetings with client counterparts and peer organisations.
  • Establish and chair internal and external commercial meetings to ensure timely processing of compensation events, variations, and other commercial matters, mitigating risk to the organisation.
