Techniche Global are supporting a high-end design and manufacturing organisation to appoint a CAD Designer.
This role will be working on the development of joinery design and technical construction drawings for their high-end interior fit out projects.
  
Rate:               £17p/hr – £20/ hr ((Annual equivalent of £35,360 – £41,600)
Hours:              40 hours per week
Location:          Gillingham, Kent- office based with occasional home working.
Duration:          perm, full-time

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of joinery design and technical construction drawings for client approval and manufacture. Translating design briefs and intent drawings into high quality manufacturable design solutions
  • Working closely with project management and workshop staff ensuring drawings meet design intent and are suitable for manufacture
  • Research and include details of third-party items within drawings ensuring seamless integration of appliances, ironmongery etc.
  • Ensure appropriate level of detail is included in all drawings at approval, manufacture & installation stages, including bills of materials & purchase logs
  • Ensure health and safety is considered throughout the design and draughting process with feasibility of installation and use by end user front of mind
  • Tracking and management of drawings and revisions issued
  • Working closely with external design teams ensuring design intent and design expectations are met
  • Attending design team meetings on and off site
  • Proficient in 3D Autodesk Inventor design software (SolidWorks or similar 3D modelling experience would be considered if prepared to transfer skills over to Inventor)

  
Essential qualification and experience:

  • 5 years plus experience as joinery draughtsman or in similar role
  • Experienced in technical design and development of workshop drawings for high quality bespoke furniture and joinery
  • Exceptional knowledge of joinery design and construction including fabrication and finishing procedures with a wide understanding of joinery materials including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, and hardware
  • Strong technical expertise with ability to solve technical problems and details between different types of materials such as wood, metal, glass, laminates, veneers etc.
  • Good understanding of materials, finishes & current manufacturing techniques & technologies
  • Experienced and proficient in Autodesk Inventor design software, (SolidWorks or similar 3D modelling experience would be considered if prepared to transfer skills over to Inventor)
  • A keen eye and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills required both internally & client-facing
  • Excellent organisational ability
  • Highly motivated
