Technical Support Engineer – Industrial & IT Networking
Location: Southampton (Office-based with future travel)
Salary: £30,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience)
 
We are supporting a provider of industrial communication solutions in appointing a Technical Support Engineer to join their team in Park Gate, Southampton. This is a permanent role, offering a varied and customer-facing position with long-term development potential.
 
About the Role:
 
This is a predominantly office-based role supporting customers with the configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting of communication and networking components used in industrial and operational technology environments.
 
You’ll work closely with customers to deliver high-quality technical support—from resolving queries and diagnosing issues to advising on maintenance, upgrades, and long-term solutions. Building strong client relationships and identifying additional training or service needs will be a key part of the role.
After onboarding, the role will include some UK travel (approx. 10% initially, growing to 30% over time).
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for industrial communication and networking products.
• Guide customers through implementation, configuration, updates, and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a variety of customer environments.
• Identify and recommend additional support or training services where applicable.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams to deliver best-in-class service.

 
What We’re Looking For:

• Background in IT support, networking, infrastructure, or related fields.
• Experience in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line support, network engineering, or technical field installation.
• Good knowledge of Ethernet, IP networking, or communications technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK.
