Techniche Global are supporting an engineering defence contractor to appoint a Project Accountant. This is a key role within the contract performance with a focus on increased fidelity and financial performance and controls in relation to risk management, reporting, cash generation, budgeting and forecasting.

Salary:                 up to 55k per annum
Location:              Chatham, Kent- 3 days onsite/ 2 days WFH
Duration:             perm/ full time
Requirements:       UK passport holder eligible for SC
  
Key requirements:

  • Reporting of the contract monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
  • Identifying and targeting opportunities to improve the cash performance, financial performance and service delivery of the contract across its remaining term
  • Responsibility for the preparation of key financial data in support of customer and stakeholder management
  • Ownership of individual EACs for the major Projects, ensuring revenue recognition is in accordance with IFRS15 on a percentage of completion basis and that CTC and risk is reviewed and updated monthly
  • Financial modelling, validation and update across various models, including tracking and reporting performance, challenging operational assumptions and identifying leading indicators / actions to be addressed
  • Ensuring billing is accurate and timely
  • Support to pricing activity and the associated governance process
  • Own the production of timely and technically accurate contract accounts, EACs, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans including variance analysis for Projects and Small Works
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Operations, particularly Head of Programmes, the Senior Project Managers and the Small Works Manager
  • Own the production of monthly management accounts including site commentaries and present to HoF, RSME Contract Director and Head of Programmes
  • Reconcile operational data to that reflected in the accounts and on other ancillary source data systems
  • Prepare customer facing balance sheet control account reconciliations and rectification actions required to resolve queries or issues
  • Prepare contract specific journals
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly contract review presentations identifying future opportunities and risks

  
Qualifications / Experience

  • Recognised professional qualification, significant PQE
  • Experience in Construction Industry or Defence Industry with Long Term Contract Accounting
  • Knowledge of IFRS15 desirable
  • Strong financial modelling skills utilising Excel
  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g. SAP, NAV (Navision, IFS etc.)
