Techniche Global is looking to appoint a CAD Design Engineer, based in Fareham. You will be joining an innovative organisation that is on a mission to make sustainable, zero-carbon heat accessible and affordable for industry. Joining their established Engineering team, this role will take full ownership for the CAD Design capability for the engineering business.
  
SolidWorks experience is essential, along with a background in CAD design engineering for mechanical and electrical systems. Preferably on a large scale with components such as pipework, cable trays etc.
  
Key Responsibilities for the CAD Design Engineer:

  • 3D CAD Modelling – Develop 3D models for product components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks. Engage with PDM and other change processes.
  • Technical Drawing/Drafting – detail technical drawings to industry standards, and complete technical documentation including for welding codes and BOMs.
  • Design for Manufacture (DfM) – Ensure designs are optimised for scalability, low cost, and high-quality production.
  • Collaboration & Integration – Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers to develop practical solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement – Support the evolution of the product through design reviews, testing, and field feedback for both prototyping and production.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for modelling parts/assemblies and detailed technical drawings with version control.
  • Good working knowledge of engineering materials, tolerancing, and metallic fabrication processes.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret manufacturing drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  • Familiarity with PDM SolidWorks or other data management suites.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.
