Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Location: Rochester, Kent
Salary: £52,500 + occasional overtime
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are supporting a leading British food producer in their search for a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical) to join their engineering team at their site in Rochester, Kent.
 
The Role:
You will be part of a team of 8 engineers, reporting to the Engineering Manager, and will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a variety of production machinery. This includes flow wrappers, pick-and-place robots, and size grading machines, ensuring optimal performance during the high-volume packing and processing of produce.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Using strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding techniques to resolve breakdowns quickly.
• Collaborating with production teams to ensure minimal downtime.
• Supporting the installation and improvement of machinery and systems.

 
Shift Pattern:

• Initially Monday to Friday (day shifts) to integrate with the team.
• Then moving onto a 4 on 4 off rotating shift:
  • 07:00 – 19:00 and 12:00 – 00:00.
  • During peak periods, shifts may adjust to 09:00 – 21:00.

 
What We’re Looking For:

• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds, HNC, ONC, NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition).
• Strong electrical expertise with complementary mechanical skills.
• Proven experience with fault-finding and breakdown response in a fast-paced production or industrial environment.
• Clear communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
