Senior Quality Engineer, Precision Engineering Component Manufacturer, Oil & Gas Sector, Cumbria, UK.
Techniche has been a recruitment partner for technology, engineering, and manufacturing organizations across the UK for nearly a decade, supporting clients in finding the talent needed to drive both operational and R&D objectives. One of our partnerships is a five-year relationship with a manufacturing client based in Cumbria, where we’ve successfully filled numerous critical roles across various skill sets. This location poses a number of challenges due to candidate scarcity and some fierce local competition from larger employers.
Knowing these local recruitment challenges well, we reached out to a new Cumbria-based manufacturing company we hadn’t previously worked with. This company had been trying to fill a Senior Quality Engineer position for several months, struggling to find someone with the necessary blend of expertise. The role required extensive technical experience in manufacturing, familiarity with regulated components, and a background in highly advanced engineering practices relevant to industries such as petrochemicals, oil and gas, and offshore engineering.
To demonstrate our understanding of the local market, we discussed our prior successes with another regional manufacturer, showing that we could address this new client’s challenges with a well-targeted approach. We emphasized from the outset that this search would focus on quality over quantity, advising the client to expect a precise shortlist and to act quickly once strong candidates were identified.
Over a one-month period, we deployed a multi-channel recruitment strategy tailored to the client’s specific requirements. Leveraging our regional insights and technical knowledge, we focused on locating candidates with the exact skills needed for the role. The result was a shortlist of two highly qualified individuals. One of these candidates was invited for a two-hour first-round interview, which led to an immediate offer. After a follow-up meeting to discuss the company’s future and clarify the role’s details, the candidate accepted and is scheduled to start in the New Year.
This success demonstrates how our industry expertise and deep understanding of regional talent dynamics allowed us to support a new client in overcoming a long-standing recruitment challenge.
